On November 4th, Bridges opened its doors and welcomed our interpreters for Interpreter Appreciation Night. Each year Bridges holds an appreciation night to thank the interpreters face-to-face for their hard work and show them how much they are valued not only by Bridges, but by the Deaf, hard of hearing, and hearing communities as well.

This year, twenty-five interpreters joined Eric Workman, Vice President & Director of Programs, and Debbie Shirley, Manager of Interpreting Services, for a homemade Italian dinner complete with breadsticks, wine, and dessert.

The evening kicked off with Debbie Shirley welcoming everyone and expressing her gratitude for their work. After everyone enjoyed dinner, Eric Workman spoke to the interpreters and thanked them for their work, highlighting individuals whose work went above and beyond.

For a special surprise, Eric played a video comprised of sixteen Deaf, hard of hearing, and hearing community members who took the time out of their day to say thank you. The video was especially touching since many times in the field, when the Deaf or hard of hearing consumer and the interpreter part ways, they may not have had the opportunity to say thank you. The evening closed out with the room transforming into roundtable discussion groups, and interpreters were asked to give their feedback to Bridges.

Bridges is thankful for the skilled and professional interpreters we work with on a daily basis. Thank you for all that you do for the Deaf, hard of hearing, and hearing communities!
