The League for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing/Ear Foundation received a grant from The Baptist Healing Trust, which awarded funds totaling more than $1.5 million recently to 44 charities for a variety of health related projects, according to President & CEO Erie Chapman. The mission of the Trust is to be a caring ministry devoted to healing with love in the Christian tradition.
The League’s grant was for $28,180 and will be used to provide health and wellness programs to Deaf and hard of hearing individuals in the Nashville community. The League’s Living Well program works to keep this under-served population healthier and reduce the need for costly medical intervention by providing programs onsite with interpreting and transcription services. The League has provided programs and services to the Deaf, hard of hearing, Deaf-Blind, and hearing communities for over 80 years. The Baptist Healing Trust was created when Baptist Hospital in Nashville sold to Ascension Health in St. Louis, Missouri.
