Part of my job at the League is to keep our clients, donors, friends, and the entire community informed. I’ll be doing that here, on the front page, as often as I can.
Many of you remember this time last year when we were finalizing our merger with the EAR Foundation. September will be the one-year anniversary of the merger (Happy Anniversary!) so let me fill you in on what has happened.
The EAR Foundation focused on hearing loss prevention through education and research. Since we’re not a medical organization, we are focusing on hearing loss prevention through our new Education and Outreach program. Specifically, the Young Ears program teaches prevention to elementary school children, and Senior Ears provides information, support, and referrals for seniors struggling with hearing issues. Just today a couple came in to ask about amplified phone and other devices. We were able to help them and hope to help more as these programs grow.
The merger has also given us the chance to encourage young adults with hearing challenges, or those who want to study hearing loss, through our Minnie Pearl and Linda Cowden scholarships.
Both organizations together created a stronger agency. We’re working hard to provide fantastic programs and services for hard of hearing and Deaf individuals, as well as all those in middle Tennessee looking for information about hearing issues.
Coming up . . .

As always, I hope you’ll come to the League to give me your thoughts and ideas.
The door is always open.
